Just an update on shopping centres and their tenants!

There was a news item yesterday about one of the largest shopping centres in Perth where the management wrote to all tenants saying that they expected the tenants to open for extended shopping hours if they were introduced by the government. Apparently it was a fairly heavy letter seemingly giving shop owners no option.

Over Christmas, a lot of store owners in shopping centres closed early as there was no traffic. The same should apply to the rest of the year – why should owners incur the cost of extra hours if they can’t do any business. We’ll watch with interest.

Great article John, and for anyone reading this… do check out John’s Workshops. Why else would you go into business if not to have a big pay day at the end by either selling up or getting it managed? Great info and all for not a lot of money.

Not only do you not have a business to sell – under most franchise agreements the FRANCHISOR owns the client base you’ve developed over the years. Having said all that, a lot of franchisors will let you sell “the business / client base” but they have the last say in who buys it! Read the agreement carefully BEFOPRE buying a franchise.

Tell me about it, I have just found out we can’t even sell our Franchise and it is now a liability not an asset.
